Last week, I went on a 8-day Southern Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean, aboard the Adventures of the Seas. And guess what? I wasn’t alone! This trip was a fantastic family getaway with 16 of my loved ones, ranging in age from 1 to 60-something. Talk about a dynamic group!
First Impressions and Onboard Life
From the moment we set sail, the vibes were just perfect. Royal Caribbean truly knows how to make a cruise special and they debunk all those myths about cruising being dull or just not up to par. Everything from the spotless ship to the delicious dining options were top-notch. Our rooms were cozy, comfortable, and cleaned daily. Everywhere else on the ship were very clean, as well.
Food is a big deal for me (yes, I proudly wear the foodie label), and Royal Caribbean didn’t disappoint. We definitely showed up to the different buffets that were anything but ordinary for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was more of a formal experience in the dining room. The menu had a so much variety each night. A special shoutout to the Indian chef onboard—every meal featured an authentic Indian dish that was so good!
Our Caribbean Ports of Call
Curacao
One of our stops was the beautiful island of Curacao, where we visited Grote Knip beach. About 55 minutes from the port, this beach offered the most authentic local experience with cliff jumping, snorkeling, and incredible food and drinks. The rustic charm and crystal-clear waters made it one of the most picturesque beaches I’ve ever visited.

Aruba
Next, we hit Eagle Beach in Aruba, famous for its powdery sand and stunning turquoise waters. Just when I thought the color of the ocean was beautiful, I see these buildings. I LOVE color!
Thanks to my dad and brother-in-law, who snagged us prime spots under the umbrellas early in the morning! Our day was filled with sun, sea, and relaxation. We even enjoyed a spontaneous catamaran ride, steered by my adventurous dad!

CocoCay
Our final stop was at Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay, which was an absolute blast. With plenty of free activities and dining options, our day was packed with fun by the pool and exploring South Beach where we even spotted a stingray!
Something for Everyone
Cruising with such a large family group was an incredible experience. It allowed everyone to enjoy their personal vacation style while coming together for meals and shore excursions. From lounging on decks to exploring each destination, there was something for everyone.
If you’re considering a cruise, I can’t recommend Royal Caribbean enough. They set the bar high! I am ready for my next one… who is coming? See more of our travels here.
