Carter and I had a special guest this weekend, Carter’s mother. We wanted to clean this room up to make her stay a little more comfortable. Our second bedroom has this little desk area that needed some attention. This office makeover only cost us $43 dollars. The only items I purchased were a couple of cans of spray-paint and the mirror. Everything else I already had. Doing projects in your home doesn’t have to cost a ton of money and you can still give your space that needed glow up by reusing things you already have in your home.

Hand-me-down Desk
This desk was a hand-me-down from a fellow law school student. It’s a perfect size, but the current color wasn’t working in the room. HERE is one that is similar to the original. I painted the desk with THIS spray-paint and used THIS spray-paint for the handle. Often times when I am looking for a used item at a thrift store, I am paying more attention to the style and size. You can paint just about anything! The basket on the floor is from Homegoods and THIS throw from Target is in it.
Plans for this room
There were a lot of books here. Welcome to the life of a law student. We moved these books to our new bookcase in our living room. This second bedroom has played a very important role as we upgrade and decorate our new home. The Junk Room. The room is small and awkward, so we have had the hardest time maximizing the space, but this weekend we have it finally figured out. We are excited to add it to our project list and get all this “junk” sorted out. You can find the same chair we have HERE from Target.
Purchase Transforming Items
If you are on a tight budget for a makeover space, try only purchasing items that will transform your space, like this gold mirror. Gold circle mirrors are just gorgeous and add the modern touch you’re looking for. Since this is a guest bedroom and office, we added a mirror so our guests could use it while they stay with us. THIS mirror from Target is a little more than what I paid, but it does go on sale often. The lamp was an item was already had. They no longer have this lamp at Target, but HERE is one similar. Of course, a vase with a little bit of greenery adds the perfect, homey touch. Reusing things you already have in your home is the perfect way to see your space in a new light and be creative.
You can see more of our projects HERE.

Looks AMAZING! Did the chair get spray painted as well?

Hi Naomi! It is not. I actually took these pictures at different times of day so the lighting changed the look of the colors. 🙂
